Google launches their own music site
Wednesday Google launched their own music sharing site for the first time after two years of start and stop work. The launch went smoothly for an innovative leap but still is said to hold no ground with iTunes by some. The new site gives users free full-length previews of songs and albums for one time though. Google plus users then can also share music suggestions over the site. This shared music though can only be heard once by Google plus users while other programs such as spotify which allows users to sample whole songs for months before having them sign a subscription. Google did manage to get a few record labels to sign contracts but were not able to sign on Warner’s music label and other indie labels. Not having these labels means Google is missing a suspected quarter of the whole market. Google music is a good idea but is lacking some of the features other companies give to consumers. This puts Google at a disadvantage in the internet music market. At this time Google, music is no opponent of iTunes but in time may prove to be a formidable opponent.
I think this is kind of a good idea if they get more from the music market
ReplyDeleteI think that they came into the music industry too late to actually have an impact on people. I know that I will continue to use iTunes.
